Answer Question
Variable Inductance/Capacitor dL/dt or dC/dt effect explanation
Hello,
I'm doing a mathematical analysis where I need to understand the phenomenon occurring inside the Fixed Load and Variable L/C blocks. I programmed by myself the equations with the auxiliary historic current to emulate the behavior of the inductor using code. However, when I apply multiple step changes in L, I am obtaining different results compared to PSCAD. However, when I disable the dL/dt effect in the variable L block, I obtain the exact same results.
I've been trying to find more information regarding the dL/dt about how it is implemented and there is nothing written about it. Not even an example or anything. The only thing I found was that it uses a compensating current to emulate those effects.
From literature, I've found that:
V(t)=(dL/dt)*i+L*di/dt
I tried to solve it using the trapezoidal rule assuming L and dL/dt as input parameters and I got to obtain similar waveforms but there's still and error between PSCAD and my code results.
Could you please indicate what is the mathematical procedure that is used to implement the dL/dt or the dC/dt effect?
Thank you in advance
