Answer Question
Distance Relay setting: use long-line corrected parameters or not?
Hello,
I modeled a distance protection relay. For Zone settings (e.g. 85% of line reactance for zone 1), I wonder if I should use long-line-corrected line values or standard series impedance values (given by the LCP output file *.tlo)? What is the exact difference between the two anyway? The PSCAD manual only talks of "correction algorithm to account for electrical effects of long lines". What effects are those and do they play a role for my application?
Thank you very much. Regards,
J.
