I want to simulate the energization of a three phase three winding transformer in PSCAD 4.6.1. The residual flux is at 0.8 p.u.
The PSCAD manual states that "Ideal Transformer Model" should be set at "yes", if saturation is modelled. Nonetheless, when doing so and when setting the residual flux at 0.8, the resulting Flux Linkage is shown in the figure below. (This figure is the result when starting from the Residual Flux example as can be found in

On the other hand, when "Ideal Transformer Model" is set at "no", The resulting Flux Linkage is shown in the figure below. It can be seen that the flux linkage does not go to 0 anymore. This is needed when testing the behaviour of an energization a transformer with residual flux in a system which requires some initialisation time.
Can you confirm that "Ideal Transformer Model" can be set at "no" eventhough the saturation is modelled ? Could you elaborate on what is the exact reason for the "Ideal Transformer Model" setting and when to use it?
