If I understood the problem correctly you created a definition, but you are yet to create an instance. Try this:
1) Right click in DFIG_wind_farm
2) Create Instance
3) Ctrl+v somewhere on the Canvas.
Now your module will show up in the lower list and when you click it's name there, it will open a white background canvas and run normally.

You are not on your project main page. You have your workspace pointing to one of the definitions in your project.
