Hi,
The physical construction of a real wound rotor induction machine may include rotor bars (also called a squirrel cage) in addition to the rotor windings. This may help with the physical contruction, the start-up performance, or the dynamic performance of the wound rotor machine. If you know that the wound rotor machine you are modeling has these physical bars inside, PSCAD allows you to include them in the model. If you don't know that your machine has these, you can leave them off (you can select "No" it does not exist).
I hope this helps,
P.
