Where can I manually change the Fortran compiler in PSCAD 4.5.3 Professional?

I have PSCAD 4.5.3 Professional and the Intel® Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran Windows 2015.

How can I choose the Fortran compiler?
Is necessary to declare any variables? Which?

Hi,

Further to N!4k!'s fine instructions for selecting the Intel Fortran compiler in PSCAD, please note that PSCAD requires that Microsoft Visual Studio also be installed for running cases with Intel Fortran.

The free version that comes bundled with Intel Fortran is fine for this application.

There are no variables to declare.

It really helped me. sometimes, the OEM says that their model is compatible with GFortran 4.2 and above, but they aren't. I had 4.6.2 and it was not working. By changing the compiler, it worked.

I cannot see the answer provided by N!4k!. I am new to PSCAD and when trying to run a model provided by someone, the software is giving an error: "No Fortran compiler selected. Simulation processes cannot be constructed without selecting a compatible & installed compiler.". Please let me know where to select the compiler.

Hi Ashutosh_Tiwari,

A Fortran compiler is required for building PSCAD simulations. The following article on the MHI Knowledge Base provides information on selecting and obtaining a Fortran compiler:

The above article discuses the free compilers that are provided alongside PSCAD (GFortran), as well as the commercially-available compiler: Intel Parallel Studio XE Composer Edition for Fortran for Windows.

After installing a compiler, your machine should be rebooted, and your setup should be tested before trying to run any of your own projects, as per this article:
