Answer Question
Petersen coil fault current
Hello there,
I'm trying to simulate a simple system with a Petersen coil. The system is 22kV source (Rs = 5 ohms) connected to 50MW load via a transmission line modeled as shunt capacitors to ground. The neutral point is grounded through a coil which supposed to limit the fault current! (Theoretically the coil is tuned with the line capacitors). However, I getting strange results. The current in the fault is very large and there are return currents in the coil and the capacitors (tuned). Why the fault current is not small in this case as it should be. And how it returned to the source if the return paths carrying small currents.
The system is attached.
Thanks
