The Master library models are all read only and can not be modified.
That being said, you can copy the definition of a Master Library component and rename the copy. once you do that, you can modify your new definition and create an instance of it.
So for example, I would copy the definition of out resistor from the master library and paste the definition in a new library called MyLib. The new definition could be called resistor2. Then I can change the graphics or anything I want. Once its done, then I can create an instance of that definition in my project.
